Foo Fighters Reveal Another Star

The long lasting and ever touring band that never seem to slow down are returning for a new record. ‘Concrete and Gold’. The Foo Fighters have a knack for creating great songs and albums and attracting all kinds of characters to them, but this record is going to stand out. It even apparently features ‘the biggest pop star in the world’. Already dubbed ‘weird’ by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl calls it ‘the album they’ve been waiting to make’. We must really be in for something special! It was also earlier compared to something like ‘Motörhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper’, which considering one of their recent announcements might be a great description.

What Can We Expect?

The 11 track album will come full of special guests and features, the biggest one (surely!) announced this week. Paul McCartney himself is appearing, playing drums on one of the new songs. He apparently nailed it in two takes, after only hearing the song in the studio from Dave on an acoustic guitar. He isn’t adding any vocals or bass to the album, which is what I expected when I saw the announcement. It is still unclear just who the ‘biggest pop star in the world’ is, but if it isn’t one of the fabulous four, who knows? It will undoubtedly be revealed in the next month, but it ISN’T Adele. Ed Sheeran, maybe?

Along with Paul and the big pop star, the album also features Inara George, David Koz, Alison Mosshart from the Kills and Death Weather and Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men. It’ll be the 9th studio album from the band, happily back to work after a brief hiatus through 2016. The first single ‘Run’ was released on June 1st, and the whole album is expected on September 15th. The Foo Fighters are currently gearing up for several shows in Asia, and will be playing a one-off UK date at the O2 on September 19th.
